Subject line: Peppermint Patty...Pliny the Elder...and conqueing your xmas dinner?
I know what you’re thinking.
What the heck do these three things have in common?
And what in the world is Pliny the Elder? (more on that later)
{business owners name}...is the lack of carbs starting to get to you?
I assure you...I’m fine. But thanks for asking :)
So, do you remember the tv show Peanuts?
You know...Charlie Brown Snoopy and that stinky kid with flies buzzing around him...Pig Pen?
There’s another lively young character in the show named Peppermint Patty...

Remember her?
Peppermint Patty was notorious for receiving D minuses on her school assignments. Once, she even got a Z minus...
But she called it sarcasm.
Peppermint Patty wasn’t bad at everything. Her baseball team beat the crap out of Charlie Brown's team every time. And she was the most athletic character in the Peanuts by far.
She was always full of life, energy and vivacity. Peppermint Patty had a lot of energy and loved to have fun.
Which makes me wonder...she must have read about Pliny the Elder…
Let me explain.
Pliny the Elder was a Roman writer, philosopher and naval commander. And Pliny believed that peppermint was a powerful and energy inducing herb.
Pliny believed Peppermint stimulated and invigorated the mind, body and soul.
And he recommended it to Ancient Roman baseball players for increased energy.
(that’s sarcasm :)
But in all seriousness Pliny did urge Romans to adorn their bodies and homes with mint leaves. He believed the mint leaf was critical for a life of energy and vivacity.
Plus…
Ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle believed the powerful herb was an aphrodisiac…
(but do what you want with that information)
The point is Peppermint Patty definitely studied up on her Ancient Roman literature.
And she embodied the magical spirit of the powerful herb.
What’s this got to do with you?
You know as well as I do that the magical spirit of Xmas is right around the corner. And having the lively spirit of Peppermint Patty wouldn’t hurt ...since we both know how “magical” dinner preparation can be…(sarcasm)
